Nicole Miles

I have a rough around the edges style that’s a little quirky, but also relaxed, warm and welcoming. I want people to have a real interaction with my pots—pick them up, spin them around, caress them, spend some time with them. I have gravitated toward hand building because the pots I create in this way embody my spirit as a designer & allow for the greatest level of spontaneous exploration. I make vases, flower pots, mugs, cups, bowls and the occasional teapot. I like the idea of making each piece unique, so the shape may be similar, but you’ll always find something different in any set or series. I’m constantly sketching new and interesting shapes and figuring out how to bring them to life. My inspiration comes from nature, textures, the human figure, jacobean textiles & architectural carvings as well as abstract expressionism.
